چکیده

Ground-state properties of the attractive Hubbard model in one dimension are studied by means of both the exact Bethe-ansatz formalism and the self-consistent field ~SCF! approach with renormalized chemical potential for general band fillings n and a wide range of coupling strength U/t . The energy, the concentration of double occupied sites, the kinetic energy and the chemical potential of the ground state are in a good numerical agreement with the exact results over a wide range of parameters U/t and n. The concentration of local pairs or double occupied sites in the Bethe-ansatz solution serves as a suitable parameter measuring the electron pairing correlations. The SCF theory provides a simple analytical relationship between the concentration of double occupied sites, the band filling and the BCS order parameter, valid for arbitrary U/t and n. The calculated energy gap, the BCS order parameter, the phase diagram and the compressibility are also discussed. The SCF theory in one dimension distinguishes the order parameter from the excitation gap and suggests a smooth crossover away from half-filling ~at nÞ1) from the BCS pairing to the Bose condensation regime under the variation of U/t and n. @S0163-1829~99!04911-5#

On the Crossover from Bcs Superconductivity to Bose Condensation

We outline a microscopic approach to the superconducting fluctuations and pairing correlations in the attractive Hubbard model above Tc, using the functional integral method. A crossover from BCS superconductivity to Bose condensation of preformed pairs is studied by constructing the appropriate Ginzburg–Landau functionals. The differences between the lattice and the continuum models are discus...

Superconductivity Driven by Chain Coupling and Elec - tronic Correlations

– We present an analysis of a system of weakly coupled Hubbard chains based on combining an exact study of spectral functions of the uncoupled chain system with a renormal-ization group method for the coupled chains. For low values of the onsite repulsion U and of the doping δ, the leading instability is towards a superconducting state. The process includes excited states above a small correlat...

Dimensional-crossover-driven Mott transition in the frustrated Hubbard model.

We study the Mott transition in a frustrated Hubbard model with next-nearest neighbor hopping at half-filling. The interplay between interaction, dimensionality, and geometric frustration closes the one-dimensional Mott gap and gives rise to a metallic phase with Fermi surface pockets. We argue that they emerge as a consequence of remnant one-dimensional umklapp scattering at the momenta with v...

Exact and Self-consistent Results in One-dimensional Repulsive Hubbard Model

The shortcomings and advantages of the generalized self-consistent field (GSCF) approach, which includes the electron-hole order parameter ∆ (+) q and the average spin s within the one-dimensional repulsive Hubbard model, are analyzed by comparison of the ground state properties with the corresponding Bethe-ansatz results in an entire parameter space of interaction strength U/t ≥ 0, magnetic fi...

Analyzing the success of T-matrix diagrammatic theories in representing a modified Hubbard model.

We present a systematic study of various forms of renormalization that can be applied in the calculation of the self-energy of the Hubbard model within the T-matrix approximation. We compare the exact solutions of the attractive and repulsive Hubbard models, for linear chains of lengths up to eight sites, with all possible taxonomies of the T-matrix approximation. For the attractive Hubbard mod...
